The Manitoba Vital Statistics Agency has been a KE client since 1998 and has operated a full implementation of KE Vitalware since 2005. A crucial advantage of upgrading to Vitalware has been the opportunity for the Province of Manitoba to participate in Canada’s National Routing System (NRS) alongside the Provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.

The NRS allows participants to exchange data with other jurisdictions and to provide data to Statistics Canada; when enabling legislation is passed they will also be able to provide data to the Canada Revenue Agency. As well as being secure, the transfer of this sensitive data is extremely efficient, achieved in part through the use of common data and technical standards.  

KE developed an NRS interface which allows Manitoba Vital Statistics to seamlessly participate in the initiative. The NRS interface is fully integrated with Vitalware and provides an automated mechanism for the transmission of relevant data between registered parties.  

The Province of Nova Scotia anticipates joining the NRS by March 2008, with other provinces sure to follow.
